Pre-School

Welcome to our Pre-School

We are a small setting within Wallisdean Infant School, with an annual intake of 32 children per session for children aged 3 plus.

Our aim is to provide high quality care and education for children below statutory school age, whilst working in partnership with parents to help children learn and develop.

We have a bright, comfortable and stimulating learning environment, with access to an enclosed safe outdoor area. The Pre-School children have regular access to the infant school hall for PE sessions and use of the Woodland area for our Wellie Walks.

Our curriculum is planned around a half-termly topic, which has been lef by the interests of the children. The fun and engaging activities are play based whilst supporting children's learning and development. We work very closely with Year R to ensure the routines are similar and that we create a smooth and seamless transition into school.

At Wallisdean we believe that 'Every Child Matters'. We offer a safe, stimulating and creative environment supporting all children and their families withing the local area and beyond including children with SEND and Service children and families.

Infant School

Wallisdean Infant School is a Hampshire County Council LA maintained school.

We are a two form entry Infant school, catering for children between the ages of 4 – 7 years old.

Although not legally required to attend school until the term following their fifth birthday, most children join our Infant school from the September following their fourth birthday.

Entry to Year R is staggered over the first week of the Autumn Term, allowing your child to build their confidence in a new setting with new friends and teachers but without disrupting routines established through their previous attendance at pre-school. Most children attend full time within the first week.

Starting School in Year R in September

If your child was born between 1 September 2021 and 31 August 2022, they will be eligible to start Year R in the school year beginning September 2026.

The deadline for YrR applications for next September is 15 January. Hampshire will notify you of the outcome of your application 16 April.

If you wish to make an in-year application, ie current YrR, Yr1 or Yr2 at any time during the school year, please click the 'make an in-year application' link on the Hampshire Admissions page, we will then contact you and invite you to tour our school. We aim to confirm the outcome of your application in writing within 10 school days, but certainly within 15 school days.

In Reception Year (Yr R) we follow the national Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS) and in Year 1 (Yr 1) and Year 2 (Yr 2) pupils follow Key Stage 1 (KS1) of the National Curriculum.
