Pupil, Service & PE Premium and Financial Benchmarking
Each year part of our school’s funding comes from the Pupil Premium Grant. This is Government funding aimed at supporting the education and life chances of disadvantaged children.
A child may be eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) if their parents receive any of the following benefits:
Income Support
Income-based Jobseekers Allowance (JSA)
Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
Support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
Child Tax Credit, provided the parents are not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190
Working Tax Credit run-on, which is paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax credit
Universal Credit – for those applying on or after 1 April 2018, their household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits they get). See the section below for protections in place for those affected by the introduction of this income threshold

Children may also get FSM if they receive any of these benefits directly, instead of through a parent. This is explained on the GOV.UK website.
All children at the infant school (ie Year R, Year 1, Year 2) are entitled to have a free school meal -through Universal Free School Meals (UFSM) everyday, so you will need to apply separately for the Pupil Premium please to help us to help your child.
Please be aware that a child must reside with the applicant to receive the Pupil Premium.

Primary PE and Sports Grant
Our school receives additional funding from the Government to encourage the development of healthy, active lifestyles.
The Primary PE & Sports Grant funding is allocated to primary schools and is ring fenced so that it can only be spent to provide additional and sustainable improvements to the provision of PE and Sport at our school.
Our Governing Body is accountable for how the money is spent and is required to publish a Primary PE & Sports Grant Funding statement each year:
The Daily Mile at Wallisdean Federated Schools
Service Pupil Premium
Wallisdean Federation is home to a number of children from Service families living within the local area.
We recognise that children from Service families are potentially vulnerable due to the nature of their family's role. We pride ourselves on knowing our children and families well and therefore have the capacity to support the children through what may be a challenging time if parents are deployed.
We do ask parents to keep us informed, where possible, of upcoming deployments so we can ensure that we are able to provide the support where appropriate.
How do we use our Service Family Funding?
We use this for a range of purposes, the most important one being the weekly operation of our Mini Military After School Club. This is run by trained and highly experienced staff.
We have a dedicated club for our Service children. During Mini Military meetings they are able to share their experiences and make memories with friends in similar situations.
We can supply books and a knitted doll to the children as well as an email address for their deployed person to send information and photos during their deployment to share with Mini Military.
