Joining our School

Starting School

Please apply for a place at our school via the Hampshire Schools Admissions website:

Click the link above to find out how to apply for a place in our main round of new Reception Year (Year R) September admissions or to join our school in either Year R, Year 1 or Year 2 at any other time.

Wallisdean Infant School is a Hampshire County Council LA maintained school, catering for children between the ages of 4 – 7 years. Although not legally required to attend school until the term following their fifth birthday, most children join our school from the September following their fourth birthday. Entry to Year R is staggered at the beginning of the Autumn Term, allowing your child to build their confidence in a new setting with new friends and teachers but without disrupting routines established through their previous attendance at pre-school. Most children attend full time within the first week.

In Reception Year (YrR) we follow the national Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS) and in Year 1 (Yr1) and Year 2 (Yr2) pupils follow Key Stage 1 (KS1) of the National Curriculum.

We hold an 'Open Day' morning each October, just ahead of the new Year R (and Year 3 at our Junior School) main round application process (beginning of November - mid January).  New Year R families will then have further opportunities to visit our school in the summer term prior to their child's admission in autumn, ie an evening Parents' Information meeting and various Stay and Play sessions.

Applicants to other year groups, or to Year R outside of the main admissions round, are encouraged to contact us to arrange a tour of our school - please telephone us on 01329 280827.

We look forward to meeting you and to your child(ren) joining our school.

NB: Our Admissions Policy is available under 'Key Information / Policies and Documents'.
